Diana Nugent Cone

Diana is a former Canadian Trademark Agent and has over 20 years experience in intellectual property law specializing in trademark clearance, filing, prosecution, and enforcement in the United States and abroad.

Diana practiced as a Trademark Agent in Canada with a prestigious intellectual property law firm in Ottawa for over 10 years until she moved to the United States in 1995. She has worked with clients assisting in the procurement and protection of their trademarks in a wide range of industries, including the food, beverage, clothing, retail, hospitality, entertainment, financial services and high-tech industries.

Diana has been active on various committees of the INTA, including WIPO Harmonization, Membership, Trademark Usage and Information Services. While on the WIPO Harmonization Committee, her group published papers entitled “Guidelines for Trademark Licensing in the European Community” and “Trademark Licensing in the EC and EFTA Countries.” She is currently a member of the Information Resources Committee of INTA. Diana has also spoken at the INTA Annual Meeting and INTA Administrators Conference.

She served as Chairman of the IPIC Recruitment and Promotion Committee and as a member of the IPIC Joint Liaison Committee (Trademarks), which interfaced with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office. Diana has previously spoken at the IPIC Annual Meeting and co-authored a paper on Section 45 of the Canadian Trademarks Act entitled “To Expunge or Not to Expunge — That is the Question.”
